Sniffle! My nose runs at the rate of a high speed train.
Creak! My back aches when I move… ooh the pain.
Groan! As I stretch to get up to even walk…
Splutter! As I cough when I really want to talk.
Choke! As I swallow my ‘flu pill’ the wrong way
”Gah!”! Is the only word the after-taste lets me say.
Sigh! As I meander to settle in my bed…
Clunk! As I lie back, and abruptly hit my head.
Yawn! As I lie there and hope to go to sleep
Aah! As I feel myself relax, nice and deep.
Ouch! As I try to turn and lie on my side
Choo! As I take yet another sneeze in my stride.
Mmmm! As I’m so relaxed I finally drift off…
Bzzz! As the alarm wakes me with a start
…And a cough.
I’m feeling a bit like a zombie at the moment – externally, that is! Internally I’m still feeling good. This is very confusing for my Inner Zombie as he doesn’t know whether he’s coming or going. Here’s to a good night’s sleep… without the annoying alarm at the end of it!
Amen my friend!
I’m just getting over a cold bug myself at the moment, so I heartily sympathise!
God Bless!
Prenin.
Thanks, Prenin.
I’m not aching, coughing or sneezing anywhere near as much today – it must have been another of those twenty-four hour bugs that I seem to catch regularly!
My inner zombie has had a month long breakdown
Now it doesn’t know what to do with itself since I can breathe easy and start living again! Unlike, it would seem half of w/press inc yourself who are all down with the dreaded lurgy! I hope you recover very soon and feel much better. It really is a horrible condition…in your case usually contracted from your hair gel and too much adventuring in your Manor
I mean in your bathroom…
Get well soon Aquatom! I’m counting on your hair gel to rescue you!
I’m using two lots of hair gel to combat each of these bugs, Icewolf. They aren’t doing my hair any favours, but they are warding off the sniffles! But, i can feel an invention coming on…
Glad to hear you’re ( and your Inner Zombie!) feeling better, by the way!
Not sure that we are now…we ate brussels sprouts tonight…lol…pwoar!! Mind you…they’d do wonders for your bugs! You’d be blowing them all out!!!
I love Brussels Sprouts, Icewolf.
I may just have to get some for myself should this thing keep coming and going as it does!
Sending good wishes and positive energy your way to hope you feel better soon. My grandmother would recommend camomille tea with honey and dry toast and then chicken soup. She was always right. Also soft-cooked eggs. Get well soon, Tom!
Mary, the thought of all of those has made me feel better! And, that means I’m feeling doubly better, as I was feeling better before reading your comment! Thank you!
I hope the meds zap your Inner Zombie, Tom, so that you feel better in the morning.
I’m feeling much better tonight, thanks, Andra.
Sorry to hear that you’re battling a bug, Tom. I’m a big believer in rest and drinking a lot of fluids, so hopefully you’ll sleep it off and pee it out. Get well soon!
At least your illness didn’t zap your inner poet!
Thanks, LA. I (and my Inner Poet) are feeling much better now, but more sleep is calling!
I liked this post, but I do hope you know it’s not because you aren’t feeling well!! It’s just that I haven’t read of someone feeling unwell put so….nicely…like a rhyme..you know?
Take care Tom!! That flu doesn’t sound nice at all..quite painful especially when you “Clunked” into bed!
Lots of water, vitamin C (quite dubious when you’ve already got it, though) and chicken soup!!
Thanks, Shree. The odd thing with this post, is that I had nothing to write about, so the aches took over and this was what I ended up with!
Are you better now? Hope you get better soon!!
Thanks once again, Shree. I was feeling better yesterday, but I’m developing a sore throat now… it’s one of those random bugs that come and go, I suppose. Still, it won’t beat me! I hope you’re OK!
Sore throat? Ugh..:/
Yea!!! Beat those bugs out of you Aquatom!!
I’m fine thanks
I’m winning, Shree! Those bugs keep coming back… I keep sending them away again!
Never mind the cold nights – I feel like that every night
And morning
Feel better soon.
Thanks, Tilly… I’m feeling loads better now already!
Hang tight T….All will be well soon I hope. Perhaps you could hit the laboratory and create something to install in the mansion that would kill all pathogens coming into the house and inside you if you pick one up on the outside….VK
Now there’s an idea, VK… I can feel an invention coming on – I’ll see what I come up with!
Achoo!
Fun poem . . . feel better.
Thanks, Nancy – I’m feeling better right now!
‘Tis the season for bugs, isn’t it? I liked your poem, but feeling rotten is a high price to pay for one’s art. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks, Diane – I’m feeling much better today, but still a little achy. It must have been another 24 hour bug.
My zombie day was yesterday…and a little bit today too.
xx
Sorry to hear that, Deb… I hope you’re feeling better now as well!
Hang tight, Tom. You’re in for a wild ride. Stay warm and drink lots of liquids. I hope you have man-sized tissues for the drips. After three weeks, I finally got over my bug. Hope yours is gone quicker.
I seem to be getting a 24 hour bug once a week lately, Tess… always slightly different. Perhaps you had three weeks worth of different bugs and thought they were the same? Glad to hear that you’re feeling better now!
My family has been hit HARD by the flu this year. Hang in there!
Thanks Hook… I will do. Hope you’re all over it now!
Pretty much – thank God!
Yeek. Please no no this winter, please no no….. YEEEEEEEK.
It’s nearly Spring though now… that feels good!
You could have written this for me, luckily it made me laugh
Elspeth, laughter is the best way to fight off any bug!
